Making Alfajorcitos

YUM! ALFAJORCITOS ARE THE BEST!!! On Thursday Rm 13 made tasty Alfajorcitos.

Alfajorcitos are biscuits smothered in dulce de leche which is kind of like caramel. They are popular in Argentina. First get two plain biscuits, spread the caramel on to the biscuits and roll the biscuits on coconut.

Licking my lips and fingers, the icky and runny dulce de leche dripped out the sides and into my mouth! I was so greedy that I wanted some more.

I had really enjoyed eating my Alfajorcito. I hope we can make them agian!!! Alfajorcitos are now my favourite Argentinian treat.

Aussie Rules

Nothing is more fun than Aussie Rules!!! Every Thursday Rooms 13 and 19 go to the bottom field to learn the Aussie Rules way of playing rugby.

The weather was rough. It was very changable, first wind, then sun, then rain. Who knows what the weather might be like next!

For our warm up we played a game called Bumper Jumper. You had to find a partner and try to knock each other over while hopping on one foot. After the warm up game it was time to learn a skill. The skill we learnt was how to bounce the ball while running.

Next we played a game which was like baseball except we had to kick a ball off a tee instead of batting a ball. I waited impatiently for my turn and when my turn was over I was panting for breath! Fielding was fun to, but I liked the kicking best.

When the day was finally over I felt exhausted, but very happy. I cant wait untill next week!!!

Black Out Day

It was with huge excitement that I got dressed for school today. Today at school we were going to have a Black Out Day to show our support for the All Blacks.

As I ran down the footpath I saw my friend. She ran to join me. Coins jingled in my pocket as I bounced about excitedly. I was going to buy a sausage for my lunch.

Arriving at school I noticed that even the teachers were wearing black. Miss Tito and Miss Va’afusuaga had black wigs on and even had some face paint! I love it when our whole school gets behind an idea.

At assembly Mr Burt kept telling funny stories. They were about the times when he had gone to the rugby games without his hat and got food stuck in his hair! I laughed and laughed, Mr Burt is a great storyteller.

After assembly we made some All Black players. We to get into groups of 5 then trace the smallest person in our group. After we had done that we had to draw on the uniform of the All Blacks.

My group was the first finished. Miss King let us go into the bay and paint our person. We talked as we worked and when we were finished painting we were covered in paint! As I washed my hands the bell rang. It was time for morning tea.

When morning tea was finished I rushed onto the field, we were going to play some with the 7s boys. Lots of other classes were there so it was a bit tricky getting into our teams without bumping into someone. But finally we were all in our teams.

I went to play touch with Tanielu. But the girls in my team were not good at playing touch so me played midnight instead. After game time was finished I was all hot and sweaty but I had a great time.

At lunch time I bought my sausage and sat with my friends under a shady tree. I felt all lazy and spent my most of my lunch time talking with my friends under the tree. When the bell rang I stood up and walked slowly class. I wondered what we were going to do next.

It was a great afternoon and we got to pick what we wanted to do. At the end of school I felt a bit sad because it had been a wonderful. But I was looking forward to watching the game tonight

I had such a great black out day and I really hope that the All Blacks can win tonight. My brother is supporting Tonga, but I still think that the All Blacks will win.

Cross Country

Its Cross Country today and this year it is a new and longer track. I can't believe how the long the track is. Shivers ran up my spine as I waited for Mr Burt to say GO.

"How much longer till the race starts?" I asked Mr Marks. "About 2 minutes", he replied. I was so scared and I felt like my heart was about to escape out of my chest.
I was taken by surprise when Mr Burt said "GO" but I didn't waste any time. I put on a burst of speed and I realized I was in the lead with 4 more people. I felt extremely proud.

During the end of the race my feet were almost killing me. I was so exaushted and my lungs were screaming. Finally I saw the finish line putting on a slight burst of speed I crossed the Finish line.

At the end of the day I was proud of myself because I came 4th. Im so glad Cross Country is over.
