The Missing Cat - Part 1

Abagail and John sat in there bedroom thinking about what to do for there Mothers birthday. They were very poor children and hardly had any money so they had trouble deciding what to buy her.

“Ohh, I know”, cried the youngest, Abagail, jumping off her bed. “What?” asked John lazily. “We could take her on a holiday” replied Abagail leaping up and down. “Forget it Abagail we will never have enough money”.

The next morning Abagail and John got up, quickly got dressed, had breakfast and went out side to play. It was Saturday and they did not have to worry about going to school, they could play all day long. They sat in the yard and made cards for there mothers birthday.

“Now all we need is a present to go with our cards,”sighed John. “Yes” Abagail agreed. “Let’s go round to Sally's house”, suggested John, “Mother’s going out on an errand so she won’t need us, and Sally’s sure to have some good ideas of what we can do for Mother’s birthday.” So the two children skipped over to their friends house.

When they arrived at Sally’s her Mother answered the door. “ Could we please see Sally” John asked politely. “I’m sorry but Sally is sick today” Sally’s Mum sadly replied. “That’s alright”, John said, “we’ll come by another time when she is feeling better.”

“Oh dear,” moaned Abagail, “how will we ever get anything for Mother?” “We’ll cope”, muttered John as they started off towards home. As they walked down an alley way leading to the main street a poster fluttered down the alley way towards John. He picked and looked at it.

“MISSING CAT,” the poster said,” whoever finds a Siamese cat with blue eyes and soft white and brown fur, (like this picture below), please return it to Vet A. J . You will then get rewarded with $2,000.” John look up from the poster his eyes shining. “ That is how much money we need to Mum on holiday” cried Abagail as she looked over John’s shoulder and read the poster. “ We MUST find that cat” John exlaimed.
